Day 1 Reflection: A Vlog

I learned a lot today.  The one thing that I learned, but I have secretly known for a long time is that Malvern is full of amazing, great and creative people.  The whole concept of this summer institute  is a great idea.  We have so many outstanding minds that we could utilize the resources here to handle our professional development.  I want to break down the walls that separate our classrooms.  I can't remember when laptop computers were introduced at Malvern, but I do know that was the day that a tremendous amount of collaboration was lost on this campus.  Everyone went and found his or her own space.  A large part of the face to face collaboration was lost.  I feel and believe that today part of that loss was restored.

I am going to think outside the box a little and try to do a Vlog(video blog).  I hope you enjoy.

  1. I loved the "Vlog" and I learned a new word: itinerant . Thanks for sharing, for thinking outside the box, and for finding something very important that had been lost.

    1. The Vlog is a method that can humanize your reflections by adding a face to a name and help to establish trust amongst your participants by creating a more authentic and genuine feel to it. When considering digital portfolios, I would add that it is important to consider first what do you want your students to know/be able to do and how can you best document evidence of their learning? Here are some resources to get you started with your quest:
